PPD//Make your mark//Developing my branding.

Documenting the past week's work as I have been developing my brand and identity printed media ready for the end of module PPD submission, as well as my personal development through several networking events and industry experience throughout the summer.

Experimenting with a few designs in the past few months (as well as working with my existing branded designs), I felt that nothing I had worked with so far was quite right. Initially, I really liked the idea of working with a bold, vibrant yellow, but after my trouble printing yellows during an Image module, I feel really put off my the idea until the time of which I can print in Pantone spot colours.

After a bit of a brainstorm, and experimentation, I decided to keep it really simple in black and white, with a bold, minimal style.

As an ode to my love of Swiss design, I decided to use (the classic) Helvetica in a type- driven design, and influenced by my love and ambitions for travelling, as well as selling and working with international clients, decided to create translation cards for countries and languages across the globe with 'Hello' s on my business cards and 'Thank you' s on my compliment slips/receipts, etc.

Developing my logo has certainly been my most difficult task- though after a lot of experimentation over the past few months, I knew that something really simple that would be completed within a day would be most appropriate, so, to emulate playfulness within my work, and resembling an 'S' (in in my script handwritten- like style), I chose a reversed Helvetica ampersand, with a few slight edits in terms of the anchor points.

I feel that this new, minimal style will certainly take some getting used to, but it's what I aspire for my own work to become- crisp, clean, minimal and stylish.

Below, a few examples of how I have applied my designs to my various means of social networking/self promotion online- keeping the pages are kept as fresh and clean as possible, with my business cards being the only reversed-out black design to ensuring that it really stands out amongst the rest of my branded media.
