Enteprise//Leeds- Print based designers.

Researching a few names of print-based designers in Leeds, for potential future contact to act as proposed designers to have items stocked within our retail space. For the moment, just a brief list of designers I have either sold alongside in craft fairs, or know through networking events, etc. With a little more time to focus and contact the designers, we will create a stock list with relevant contact and prints to calculate costs and comission fees, etc- all on a sale or return policy, to ensure trust with the designers, and to keep costs as low as possible for the store.

Studied in Norwich, and now based in Leeds, illustrator and designer Helen Entwistle (also known as 'Memo') sells a variety of items including zines, bags, cards, and more.

TestSpace are an independent gallery and design network that promote the work of students and young designers in Leeds- I have worked with them on two occasions, once for the 'Papergirl Leeds' gallery night, and for a pop up shop in The Corn Exchange this December- a great source for the contact of other designers in the local area.

'Jaypee' is a recent graduate from LCA BAGD- and still a close friend of the course and it's students. A fantastic example of print-based illustrative design and still based in Leeds- a great opportunity for someone close by to make good connections with when discussing our business proposal.

Leeds-based designer Matt Ferres has a brilliant portfolio with a vast variety of work- from branding and illustration, to gig poster designs, and more- a wide variety of design outcomes which I could see being very popular among our target audience of students.

'God is Dad'- a brilliant range of both vector-based and photographic prints- really edgy and of the moment- again, could really see these taking off- some a little controversial, with the "shock factor"- could really appeal to the teenage student audience.

In the business for around ten years, Drew Millward has plenty of experience in Graphic Design and Illustration- and it shows in both his client list and hi wonderful portfolio of work. Amazing street-style design, on the slightly "higher end" of the price bracket that would traditionally be stocked in a print outlet/pop up shop- really eye-catching design, and a wide variety for stock rotation.

SpinCycleComplete- a Leeds based design collective are a not-for-profit screenprint based design company with real edge and character. A great variety of printed designs and applications of print (prints, t-shirts, etc)- could be a great opportunity for expansion in terms of variety of stock (as we aim to specalise in books and zines, but more variety in print-based design is always welcome).

"Art school wank" is a humourous, playful designer who creates work in a wide variety of foramts- branding, screen based design, and print too. An innovative and diverse range of outcomes in his design portfolio, again, could be great for our suited target audience- some with a hint of "shock factor" (the name, for example...) which always goes down well.
