Design Production for Print//PRODUCTION CONSIDERATIONS.

In another critique session, we started to write down specific considerations for the future of our design production project. After writing the specific details (see below), we discussed them within the groups were were with yesterday, and reflected on appropriate methods suited to specific print products.

5 PRINT FORMATS

1// A0 poster, satin gloss, duotone
2// Digital print/segmented billboard poster, duotone, cmyk
3// Vinyl prints, digital wall art, wayfinding, signage
4// 2 A0 digital print bus shell advertising
5// Imposed A1 print tickets/mailshots (lithography) to be trimmed

5 PRINT METHODS

1// Lithographic posters, short run, approx 100
2// Digital print, short run billboard advertising, approx 20
3// Lithographic print programmes spot varnish, foil blocking, die cut pages
4// Gravure tickets and mailshot printing
5// Rotary screenprint, merchandising, products at events (t shirts, totes, etc)

5 PRINT CONSIDERATIONS

1// Saddle stitch binding- programmes, approx 32 pages 40gsm bible paper- subtle, stylish, fine quality- reflective of high quality and consideration in Wes' films
2// Spot varnish/foil blocking on printed distribution media (tickets, mailshots, etc)
3// Layout and composition consistency- from poster to programme
4// Reproduction/image design- direct Wes images/re-create?
5// Number of units printed for media. Assess locations and level of outdoor advertising available

I will now go on to research these specific areas, and hopefully find more information about print production for the specific products.
